Zanat at the Imm Cologne fair
Upon invitation of Zanat I traveled to Cologne yesterday, to the Imm Cologne fair. This fair is the second largest in Europe and is visited by many interior professionals. Zanat is presenting their latest designs; the Igman chair and the Branco boxes. Wow, the craftsmanship and chosen materials are a feast for the eye!
The combination of the solid wood frame and the thick saddle leather of the Igman chair is a wonderful combination. The chosen materials may give you the impression that this is a heavy dining room chair, but in contrary designer Harri Koskinen created a soft and lightweight chair. The chair comes in a version with or whitout an armrest. The flat cut surfaces of the armrest and the back beam are decorated with the characteristic Zanat carvings.
The Branco boxes by Monica Förster are inspired by the sculptures created by Constantin Brancusi, who was one of the founders of modernism. Besides being a sculptor, painter and photographer, Brancusi was also a woodcarver.
Crafted in solid maple wood, these hand carved boxes are not only beautiful and decorative, but also versatile in use. It can obviously used as a storage box, but the sizes are also suitable to use them as a side table or combine a couple into a coffee table. It is up to your desire how to combine and use them. I was in particularly charmed by number of Branco boxes stacked on top of each other like a sculptural object, exactly as the designer’s inspiration.
The Imm Cologne fair is certainly worth to visit and can be visited until Sunday 21th of January. And if you’re happen to be there, drop by the Zanat booth at hall 2.2 (pure editions), I’m sure that what you see will please you!
